Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Khetiyaar respects your privacy and complies with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This page explains what we collect, why, and your rights — in plain language.
1. What We Collect
- Phone number — to send the OTP that signs you in and (for sellers) to let buyers contact you on the marketplace.
- Farm profile — your name, location (precise or approximate), soil type, crops, land size, home-garden setup, and field boundaries you record with Land Measurement.
- Photos & audio — crop / disease photos, marketplace listing photos, brand logos, license documents, and (with permission) microphone audio when you use voice features.
- Device & usage info — device model, OS, language, push notification token, in-app actions, coin balance, transaction history, and crash logs.
2. How We Use It
- Authenticate you and personalise AI crop plans, garden plans, daily tasks, and the chat assistant.
- Show local weather, agricultural alerts, and marketplace listings near your location.
- Process coin top-ups, brand verification, dealer-locator inquiries, and marketplace transactions between farmers, dealers, and brands.
- Send push notifications you've enabled, fix bugs through crash reports, and improve the app using aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
3. AI & Your Data
- When you ask the AI a question, send a crop photo, or generate a plan, your input is forwarded to trusted AI providers solely to compute the response.
- We do not permit our AI vendors to train their public models on your inputs.
- Your AI history (chats, plans, diagnoses) stays linked to your account — you can delete it any time by deleting your account.
- AI guidance is advisory and not a substitute for a qualified agronomist, veterinarian, or licensed agro-input dealer.
4. Data Sharing
- We never sell your personal data and we do not display third-party ads inside Khetiyaar.
- Trusted sub-processors that help us run the app: Amazon Web Services (image hosting via S3 + CloudFront), Sentry (crash reports), Open-Meteo (weather), Expo (push notifications), Google Play & RevenueCat (coin-pack purchases), Razorpay (payments), and MSG91 (OTP SMS delivery).
- Marketplace data is partly public by design: your listing photos, brand name, dealer name, and contact button are visible to buyers within your radius.
- We disclose data to law-enforcement or regulators only when required by Indian law or to protect users from imminent harm.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / TLS) and at rest on our cloud infrastructure.
- Razorpay handles all card / UPI / net-banking details directly; we never see or store your full payment credentials.
- Access to user data is restricted to authorised engineers and audited; we apply the principle of least privilege.
- We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law; closed-account data is erased or anonymised within 30 days.
- Some sub-processors process data on servers outside India. We allow this only with contractual safeguards and as permitted by the DPDP Act 2023.
- If a personal-data breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the DPDP Act 2023 requires.
6. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete information from inside the app or by emailing us.
- Erasure — delete your account and its data directly in the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by emailing khetiyaar@gmail.com from your registered contact.
- Withdraw consent at any time — some features (location-based weather, AI plans, marketplace) may stop working without it.
- Grievance — write to khetiyaar@gmail.com (we respond within 30 days) or escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Nominate — you may appoint another person to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to (DPDP Act, Section 14).
7. Device Permissions & Controls
- Location — used for local weather, severe-weather alerts, nearby Bazar listings and dealers, and GPS land measurement. You can turn it off anytime in phone Settings; those features will stop working.
- Camera & photos — used only when you scan a plant for diagnosis, upload listing or brand photos, or change your profile picture.
- Microphone — used only while you speak to the chat assistant; your phone’s speech service converts the audio to text. We store the text of your question, not the recording.
- Notifications — choose categories in Profile → Notifications or mute channels in phone Settings. Read-aloud (listen) features run entirely on your device.
8. Children's Privacy
- Khetiyaar is intended for users 18 years and older. Under India's DPDP Act 2023, we do not knowingly process the data of minors without verifiable parental consent.
- If you believe a minor has signed up, email khetiyaar@gmail.com and we will erase the account.
9. Changes & Contact
- We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect.
- Grievance Officer: Khetiyaar Support — khetiyaar@gmail.com (reply within 30 days, in line with the DPDP Act 2023).
- Governed by the laws of India; courts in Gujarat, India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes.
